Commuter Omnibuses to be Outlawed

Commuter  omnibuses  are  failing  to  meet  the  transport's  needs  and  according  to  the  Herald  newspaper, the  City  Council  indicated  its  intention  to  have  commuter  omnibuses  outlawed
. About  500  buses  are  expected  to  service  the  city  of  Harare  as  well as  Chitungwiza  and   Epworth. There  would  be  public  transportation  systems  designed  to  move  large  numbers  of  passengers.
 The  city  blamed   unregistered  commuter  omnibuses  for  its   failure  to  plan  the  transport  system. Commuters  should  at  least  operate  on  scheduled  time  tables.
However  if   this  system  of  mass  bus  transport  is  successful, the  commuter  omnibuses  will  lose  their  business. All  the  same  it  can  be  a  good  move  as   it  will  reduce  congestion  in  town  as   well  as  other  roads. The  new  bus  program  can  ensure  reliability  because  commuter  omnibus operators  do  not  do  not  have    binding  agreements   that  keep  them  on  the  road  always. This  has  often  led  to  them  diverting  routes among  other  problems.
